Valentine’s Day 2021 is quickly approaching and I’d like to do something special this year. We’ve all been through a pretty rough 2020. One of my goals for the upcoming year is to show my friends, family, and neighbors how much I appreciate them. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to spread a little love.
My hope was to give little gifts that both men and women could enjoy while avoiding candy. Most of us don’t want any more treats to tempt us (2020 weight gain?). One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is to go to a spa. Soaks in the tub or even simple foot baths are amazing to relax and unwind. I decided to create something that could evoke a spa experience for my friends.
When I was a kid, any time my siblings or I suffered aches or pains my mom would have us soak in a tub of Epsom salts. Yes, standard, drug store Epsom salts. Well, Epsom salts have come a long way. They now can be purchased in lavender, green tea, eucalyptus, or coconut scents. I’m not a doctor and I’m not touting the medical or scientific theories behind them, but adding them to warm water is a natural way to ease muscle and joint pain.
I found several cute glass jars at my local thrift store and filled them with Epsom salts purchased at Target. The faux green garland can be found at any craft store and can be used for so many things. I added a bit of faux lavender to the jars to make them look a bit more fancy for Valentine’s Day. The cute metal shovels added an extra touch. I hope the recipients are as thrilled with the result as I am!
