Do you have closet envy? My closets don’t always look this tidy. But I strive to keep them organized. How many of us throw stuff in the closet when we’re having company?! I’m pretty sure most friends and family won’t judge you if your closets aren’t in tip top shape. However, are you hosting an open house? Don’t fool yourself into thinking that interested buyers won’t look in every nook and cranny that they can. If there’s a door to open; they will!
They key to closet organization is getting everything you want to store in the closet grouped into piles. Put linens, candles, light bulbs, tape, lotions, hair supplies etc. in groups. Then collect similar containers that have the same vibe. I like to use a variety of like storage containers to give a “styled” look. Vintage wire baskets are great as are glass jars and photo boxes. Neatly move the piles into your containers. Get rid of anything that doesn’t fit a color scheme or theme. Perhaps you like the farmhouse theme pictured here? Some people like lots of colorful containers or use only wicker baskets. Whatever your preference, organizing your stuff will give you a little thrill each time you open a closet door and will decrease your search time. Added bonus: your buyers will be pleasantly surprised.
